This book is a collection of tried and true activities which promote building of the caring cooperative classroom.

Creenaune. T. & Rowles. L. 1996. What's Your Purpose?  Reading strategies for non-fiction texts.. Sydney, Primary English Teachers Association. NSW.
This book is intended as a practical classroom resource for teachers across all years of primary schooling. It focuses on non-fiction texts, and teaching and learning strategies to help students deal with these texts.

Getlins, Ilze ed.  New Perspectives in Social Education Books 1-4,  Melbourne, Cambridge University Press, 1995-97
Each book promotes an interdisciplinary approach which will be relevant to students of Geography, History, Australian Studies and Environmental Studies. These books provide teachers with curriculum resources which emphasise enquiry teaching and learning, focus on the study of significant social and environmental issues, incorporate a global perspective and promote an appreciation of the common cultural heritage of Australia.

This book is designed to help teachers, both new and experienced, to develop skills in teaching Aboriginal Studies. t.

Hamston. J. & Murdoch. K. 1996. Integrating Socially.  Melbourne, Eleanor Curtain Publishing.
This is essentially a book about classroom practice. It is a comprehensive guide to developing integrated units of work for social education with a focus on language. 

Integrated Units Collection. Melbourne, Curriculum Corporation, 1996-1998.
Four titles (Oodles of Noodles: Early Years, Part of a Pattern: Years 2-3  & From
Igloos to Yurts: Years 4-7, Different Dreams Years 7-8). Each is a set of integrated units written by Tasmanian teachers. The units explore understandings from a number of learning areas through focus questions.

Kagan, S.   Cooperative Learning  Resources for Teachers,  San Juan Capistrano, Cal., Kagan Cooperative Learning, 1990.
A collection of structures and lesson designs for practical classroom use.  This is one of the most comprehensive books available on cooperative learning structures.

Mc Grath. H. & Francey. S.  Friendly Kids, Friendly Classrooms. Melbourne, Longman, 1991.
A book that provides teachers with strategies,  games and activities that help students learn social skills and help them to get along with their classmates. 

Mc Grath. H. & Noble. T.  Different Kids, Same Classroom , Melbourne, Longman, 1993.
Each section presents a range of practical teaching strategies so that all children are included in lessons yet still have their individual needs met.

Strategies that require students to communicate using visual texts.

Murdoch. K. Integrating Naturally . Melbourne, Dellasta.
Using the inquiry process as a model, the units link rich contexts for learning with a variety of teaching and learning strategies.  All activities have been trialled across a range of age levels in the primary school.

An introduction to the integration model of children's learning..

Taraba: Tasmanian Aboriginal Stories , Hobart, DECCD, 1997.
Six Tasmanian Aboriginal stories have been retold to give pleasure and information. Each story tells something of the spiritual world of the Tasmanian Aboriginal people, as well as explaining how the rewards and punishments given by the Spirits have contributed to the characteristics of Tasmanian birds and animals.

Unicef, Education for Development
A collection of classroom activities focusing on development education. Structured into three levels, for 7-11, 12-15 and 16-18 year olds, the activities are designed explore concepts relating to interdependence, images and perceptions, conflict and conflict resolution, change and the future, and social justice.

Suitable for upper primary and lower secondary, this is a practical "how to do" investigative resource on setting up a class parliament complete with teacher learning strategies, evidence files, facts sheets, a role play and a video. 

It's Working - Career and Work Education Kindergarten to Grade 8,  DECCD, 1997.
A valuable collection of materials for teachers K - 8. The kit brings together for the first time, cross curricular perspectives on career and work education, and a study of Asia.

Televisions first comprehensive account of Australia's hundred and fifty year land war. 

Story Tellers of the Pacific - ABC
A video series that explores common issues amongst indigenous peoples around the Pacific rim.

My Choice My Future  Tradeswomen On The Move Project
An excellent video on the breaking down of gender barriers in training and career opportunities.
