Assigning SOSE Profile Levels

A profile level represents a “snapshot” of student achievement and is based on learning area outcomes.

Assigning and recording profile levels are essential elements of reporting on student achievement in SOSE which will require teachers:

1. to plan for assessment opportunities when designing SOSE  teaching and learning programs in order to:

•  ensure that assessment activities reflect the intent
of each of the learning area strands and a range of    profile outcomes

•  design teaching and learning programs which
allow students to demonstrate and provide
evidence of their knowledge, skills and    understandings

•  collect evidence in students' Records of
    Development

2. To keep records of student assessment information
    throughout  the year:

•  for students and teachers to keep an on-going
   record of achievement

•  to record whole class end of year results

3. To assign profile levels by reading the level statements in the      Profile and the outcomes listed for each strand within a level

4. To participate in a moderation process.
