Levendale Primary School 2000

School Profile 

Levendale is a small country primary school with an increasing population of students.  It is staffed with 2 teachers and a number of ancillary staff.  At the time of these developments the community had many concerns regarding the duty of care issues within the school.

 

 Getting Started

 We began by

·        A review of all policies under the banner of a supportive school environment

·        Researched what was happening in other schools

·        Sought assistance from outside expertise

·        Surveyed staff, parents, students to isolate areas of concern.

 Planning

 What steps did we follow?

·        Review of surveys and current policies

·        Developed new policies

·        Shared and consulted all stakeholders

·        Accepted new Supportive School Environment Policy

 Major Focus

 Goals and Strategies

·        To improve behaviour of students at school i.e. decrease in bullying

·        To increase safety in the playground for all students

·        To increase awareness of issues related to these aspects within the school community

·        To enact new accepted policies in a fair and consistent manner

 

 Key Results 

·        An accepted Behaviour policy by all members of the school community

·        A decrease in reported bullying behaviours

·        A safer playground for all students

·        A change in the types of games played in the playground

·        A wider acceptance of each others responsibilities for the ease and welfare of everybody
